In a candid interview on HipTV, Spyro shared his initial optimism that the joint effort would significantly elevate his career trajectory. The collaboration in question was the 2018 remix of his track ‘Funke,’ which featured both Davido and Mayorkun.
However, contrary to his expectations, Spyro recounted a period of unexpected setbacks despite the song's initial positive reception. One of the challenges he faced was a sudden loss of contact with his collaborators.
"I had a song back then, that I had Davido and Mayorkun on it. I actually thought that my life was about to change. The song came out big, and I went back down all of a sudden," Spyro revealed.
He further elaborated on the emotional impact of this experience, saying, "I sat down and thought about it because how do I go from working with Davido, vibing with Mayorkun and all those guys, and all of a sudden, they no longer even pick your calls anymore?"
Spyro poignantly described his feelings during that period: "I would just sit down on my staircase back then and cry because I had my parents at home that I needed to take care of, and a lot of things were just going wrong."
Despite this challenging phase, Spyro's perseverance ultimately paid off. He achieved widespread recognition in 2022 with the release of his hit song ‘Who Is Your Guy.’ Since then, he has also released successful collaborative singles with other prominent Nigerian artists, including Tiwa Savage and Simi, marking a significant turnaround in his musical journey. His story serves as a testament to the unpredictable nature of the music industry and the resilience required to navigate its highs and lows.
