The Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC) has deployed personnel to all accredited Computer-Based Test (CBT) centres in Anambra State in preparation for the 2025 Unified Tertiary Matriculation Examination (UTME), scheduled to begin on April 24.

This was disclosed in a statement issued on Wednesday by Edwin Okadigbo, Head of Media and Tactical Operations for the Anambra NSCDC Command. According to the statement, security personnel will be stationed at all 33 JAMB-accredited CBT centres across the state to ensure a smooth, secure, and disruption-free examination process.

The State Commandant, Olatunde Maku, directed the deployment, emphasizing the need to safeguard critical infrastructure, uphold examination integrity, and provide a conducive environment for candidates.

“Personnel will be on ground to provide security for the critical infrastructure, prevent intrusion by unauthorized persons, and maintain the integrity of the examination at all centres,” the statement read.

Commandant Maku, during a briefing with area commanders, divisional officers, and heads of formations at the State Command Headquarters in Awka, outlined the responsibilities of officers during the examination period. He instructed that all assigned operatives arrive before 6 a.m. daily, to screen candidates for prohibited items and ensure calm at the centres.

“They are to act promptly on duty calls and ensure that the exam environment remains serene and secure throughout the period,” he stated.

Maku further warned against the presence of unauthorised individuals loitering around the CBT centres and reminded candidates of the strict prohibition of items such as mobile phones, smartwatches, and other gadgets.

He also charged officers to adhere strictly to the operational guidelines of the Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board (JAMB) and maintain the highest level of professionalism.

“Any individual or group found flouting the rules or attempting to compromise the process will be dealt with in accordance with the law,” Maku affirmed.

The deployment underscores NSCDC’s continued role in safeguarding national examinations and other critical national assets, and its commitment to promoting integrity and fairness in Nigeria’s education system.
