The Nigerian Meteorological Agency (NiMet) has issued a weather forecast predicting a mix of sunshine, cloudiness, and thunderstorms across Nigeria from Tuesday to Thursday. The agency's outlook indicates varied weather patterns across the country's northern, central, and southern regions.

On Tuesday, NiMet forecasts sunny skies with scattered clouds over the northern region, with a possibility of isolated thunderstorms in parts of Adamawa, Kaduna, and Taraba states later in the day. The North Central region is expected to experience sunny skies with patchy clouds, and a slight chance of isolated thunderstorms in the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Benue, Nasarawa, and Kogi states during the morning.

In the afternoon and evening, thunderstorms are anticipated in parts of the FCT, Benue, Niger, Plateau, and Kwara states. Southern states may experience morning thunderstorms in Cross River and Akwa Ibom, with isolated thunderstorms expected in several other southern states later in the day.

Wednesday's forecast for the northern region includes sunny skies with scattered clouds and potential isolated thunderstorms with rain in parts of Kebbi, Zamfara, Taraba, Bauchi, Gombe, Adamawa, and Kaduna states. The North Central region is expected to have sunny skies with patchy clouds in the morning, followed by isolated thunderstorms in the afternoon and evening in various states, including the FCT, Benue, Kwara, Niger, Kogi, Nasarawa, and Plateau.

The southern region will see cloudy skies with sunny spells and morning thunderstorms in Ogun, Lagos, Akwa Ibom, Cross River, Rivers, and Bayelsa states. Isolated thunderstorms are also expected in the afternoon and evening in several southern states.

NiMet has issued vital health and safety advisories alongside the weather forecast. The agency urges the public to drink plenty of water to stay hydrated and seek well-ventilated and cool spaces, as high temperatures across the country increase the risk of heat stress. Residents are also advised to get vaccinated against meningitis, practice good hygiene, avoid overcrowding, use nose masks, and limit contact with affected individuals.

The agency further advises the public to avoid peak sun hours (noon to 3 pm) and protect themselves from direct sunlight exposure. Strong winds may precede thunderstorms, requiring the public to take necessary precautions. Airline operators are advised to obtain airport-specific weather reports from NiMet for effective flight planning. NiMet encourages residents to stay informed through their website for continuous weather updates.
