In a move aimed at making premium entertainment more accessible and affordable, MultiChoice Uganda has launched a new range of weekly subscription packages for its DStv and GOtv customers. Branded under the campaign name ‘Ka Weekie’, the initiative allows users to enjoy their favourite shows and channels for as low as UGX 5,000 per week.

The newly introduced short-term payment options cater to customers seeking greater control and flexibility over their viewing habits, especially in today’s dynamic economic environment.

Expanding Access Through Affordability

Speaking at the launch event on Thursday, Rinaldi Jamugisa, PR and Communications Manager for MultiChoice Uganda, emphasized the importance of offering tailored solutions to meet changing consumer preferences.

“We understand that our subscribers require affordable and flexible options to keep up with their favorite shows and programs,” Jamugisa said. “The launch of Ka Weekie reflects our commitment to delivering value while ensuring entertainment remains accessible to all.”

He added that the packages offer viewers a budget-friendly alternative to traditional monthly subscriptions—ideal for students, short-term residents, and anyone looking for more adaptable viewing plans.

Customer Feedback in Action

Colin Asiimwe, Head of Marketing at MultiChoice Uganda, noted that the Ka Weekie campaign was shaped by direct subscriber feedback and aims to meet the lifestyle and financial realities of viewers across the country.

“You asked, we listened,” Asiimwe said. “We believe this is a step in the right direction—offering our customers the best in entertainment at affordable price points, allowing them to pay and watch at their own convenience.”

He highlighted that the packages are especially suitable for daily and weekly earners, seasonal viewers, and those constantly on the move.

Easy Access, Maximum Convenience

To subscribe, customers can use the MyDStv and MyGOtv mobile apps, dial *206#, or pay through mobile money platforms like MTN MoMo and Airtel Money. The packages are also available via partner banks and accredited agents across Uganda.

MultiChoice assures users that they can seamlessly return to their standard monthly, quarterly, or annual subscriptions at any time. Any unused portion of the active weekly package will be deducted from the new plan to avoid overlap or loss of value.

Strengthening Roots in Ugandan Entertainment

With this new offering, MultiChoice continues to solidify its position as a market leader in Uganda’s pay-TV space. Established in 1994, MultiChoice Uganda is a subsidiary of MultiChoice Africa Holdings and delivers a wide range of content through DStv satellite and GOtv digital terrestrial platforms.

As the company adapts to evolving consumer demands, the Ka Weekie campaign represents a bold step toward greater inclusivity, making quality entertainment more accessible—one week at a time.
