According to a recent statement, Julius Berger emerged as the leading entity in its sector, surpassing two other contenders to claim the top honor.
Cammil Chineme, Chairman of the Award Organizing Committee, emphasized that Julius Berger's core values, unwavering professionalism, and consistent dedication to its objectives made the company a worthy recipient of the award.
"We salute your professional prowess; we salute your courage and uncommon professionalism, causing you to move from one conquest to another, and for winning this Diamond Award for Customer Service Excellence," Chineme stated.
He further added, "The West Africa Innovation Awards is making a name in identifying real industry leaders in West Africa and appreciating them accordingly."
Dr. Abdulaziz Kaita, Director of Administration at Julius Berger, expressed his gratitude to the organizers upon accepting the award on behalf of the company.
Kaita highlighted Julius Berger's extensive history in Nigeria, spanning over five decades. "Julius Berger has been in Nigeria for more than 50 years," he noted.
He further elaborated on the company's significant contributions to Nigeria's infrastructure development, stating, "We built the first bridge in Lagos in 1965. And that bridge, Eko Bridge, still stands solid today, despite all the vehicular and traffic pressure on it."
Kaita also drew attention to Julius Berger's pioneering role in introducing innovative construction technologies to Nigeria. "We began the unique cold recycling technology in building roads for Nigeria. It saves about 90 per cent of the resources that go into construction works. That technology has been so successful that it is now being studied as a course at Ahmadu Bello University, Zaria."
Addressing past misconceptions, Kaita clarified the relationship between the Nigerian and international arms of the company. "Contrary to what had been sold to the Nigerian public in the past, Julius Berger International is a subsidiary of Julius Berger Nigeria Plc; Julius Berger International is a branch of Julius Berger Nigeria."
In closing, Dr. Kaita dedicated the award to the company's workforce. "This award is dedicated to all the staff of Julius Berger, whose commitment continues to make the company transform its challenges into tangible opportunities for the company, our operational communities, and the country."
