Search begins for Nigeria’s most inspiring young heroes as 17th edition kicks off nationwide

The search for Nigeria’s bravest and brightest young changemakers has officially begun. Dufil Prima Foods Ltd., makers of Indomie Instant Noodles, launched the 17th edition of the Indomie Heroes Awards—a long-standing national initiative that honors exceptional Nigerian children aged 15 and below who have displayed acts of extraordinary courage, intelligence, and societal impact.

This year’s theme, “Unsung Heroes,” highlights the often-overlooked stories of remarkable young Nigerians whose selfless acts have transformed their families, communities, and beyond. For nearly two decades, the Indomie Heroes Awards has served as a powerful platform to spotlight these young trailblazers, with 59 winners honored to date and millions of naira awarded in scholarships.

Speaking at the launch event held at Radisson Hotel, Ikeja, Temitope Ashiwaju, Group Corporate Communications and Events Manager of Dufil Prima Foods, emphasized the importance of recognizing heroism in young people.

“Our dedication to highlighting the heroic deeds of Nigerian children is unwavering,” Ashiwaju said. “Since 2008, we’ve honored stories of courage—be it physical bravery, social consciousness, or intellectual innovation. We believe that every child’s courageous story deserves to be heard.”

A Three-Phase Journey to Recognition

The awards follow a detailed three-phase process:

  1. Call for Entries: Submissions are now open nationwide via www.heroesofnigeria.com or by email at entry@heroesofnigeria.com. Organizers will also reach remote communities to ensure inclusivity.
  2. Screening & Selection: A distinguished panel will assess the stories for authenticity and impact. Select stories will be reenacted through short films and mini-documentaries.
  3. Award Ceremony: The grand event in October 2025 will honor Nigeria’s most courageous children in Lagos.

Award Categories

The Indomie Heroes Awards is split into three impactful categories:

  • Physical Bravery: For children who have risked their lives to save others.
  • Social Bravery: Recognizing those who confront societal issues such as illiteracy, child marriage, and environmental challenges.
  • Intellectual Bravery: Celebrating young minds solving complex problems through creativity and innovation.

New for 2025: State-Level Recognition

Ashiwaju encouraged parents, teachers, community leaders, and the general public to actively participate by nominating deserving children.

“These stories of heroism are often hidden in everyday lives,” he noted. “Through community collaboration, we hope to discover and honor the silent impact-makers shaping the future of Nigeria.”

Shaping the Next Generation

The Indomie Heroes Awards has not only transformed lives but also created a generation of leaders. Past recipients have gone on to pursue higher education and serve as role models, proving that bravery and brilliance know no age.

As the 17th edition unfolds, Dufil Prima Foods reaffirms its commitment to inspiring the next generation and elevating the voices of young Nigerians who embody courage, compassion, and resilience.
