IONIQ 5, IONIQ 6, and Tucson Hybrid secure top honors, solidifying Hyundai as the most awarded brand for 2025

Hyundai has emerged as the most awarded automaker in the 2025 U.S. News & World Report Best Hybrid and Electric Cars Awards, retaining three major category wins. The IONIQ 5 was named Best Electric SUV, the IONIQ 6 claimed Best Electric Car, and the Tucson Hybrid was awarded Best Hybrid SUV.

These accolades reaffirm Hyundai’s leadership in the electrified vehicle market and mark the second consecutive year the brand has earned the most awards in this prestigious competition.

“Hyundai is dedicated to eco-friendly propulsions for ‘Progress for Humanity,’ our North Star,” said Ricky Lao, Director of Product Planning, Hyundai Motor North America. “Winning the most awards in this competition for the second year highlights Hyundai’s engineering prowess and innovation.”

The U.S. News awards evaluated 115 hybrid, plug-in hybrid, and electric vehicles across 10 categories, considering EPA fuel economy and range data, vehicle pricing, and expert reviews from the automotive press. Winners were chosen based on their blend of quality, value, and efficiency.

“These awards are about efficiency, but the winners also have to be intrinsically desirable vehicles,” said Alex Kwanten, Managing Editor of Autos at U.S. News & World Report. “The IONIQ 5 and IONIQ 6 both mix excellent real-world range and charging capability with good driving dynamics, premium features and distinctive styles. The Tucson, meanwhile, has a combination of space, efficiency, and user-friendliness that’s very hard to beat.”
