In a bold move to democratise access to the digital economy, leading Nigerian tech innovator Hanu Fejiro has launched a free cryptocurrency and blockchain training programme, aimed at equipping young Nigerians with the knowledge and tools to build financial independence in the digital age.

Hosted via Telegram, the initiative offers an interactive and hands-on curriculum covering blockchain fundamentals, cryptocurrency safety, real-world applications, and decentralised finance (DeFi). With over 300 participants in its first cohort—gathered from sessions in March 2024 and February 2025—the programme wraps up its initial batch by March 2025.

“What if the cure for cancer or world hunger is stored in an uneducated mind?” Fejiro asked while announcing the initiative. “Our goal is to train one million people in my lifetime—to empower them to participate and win in this global digital transformation.”

The training is designed not only to educate but also to enable participants to earn while they learn through practical engagement, live sessions with industry experts, and tasks that reflect real-world scenarios. This positions participants for careers in Web3 product management, NFT strategy, blockchain development, crypto marketing, and DeFi analytics.

Rising Relevance of Crypto in Africa
With cryptocurrency adoption rising across Africa, and the increasing mainstream appeal of Bitcoin ETFs, stablecoins, and layer-2 networks like Arbitrum and Base, the programme meets a growing demand for Web3 education and digital skill-building.

Participants shared glowing testimonials of their experience
Iyanuoluwa noted that the training has “expanded my understanding of digital currencies and blockchain,” while Kareem praised the insights into token strategies and airdrop engagement.
Godwin highlighted how the training helped him discover “how to watch top traders’ wallets, verify airdrops, and avoid scams.”

Scholarships and Broader Impact
Beyond the current programme, Fejiro revealed plans to award 100 full scholarships to young Nigerians for the AltSchool Africa Diploma course, furthering his mission to empower youth through tech education.

“We’re positioning young Nigerians and Africans to take charge of emerging digital trends,” he said, pointing to the broader vision of a tech-empowered African workforce.

The next session of the Web3 training kicks off April 28, 2025, and interested individuals can apply via Fejiro’s social media pages.

With bold vision, community-driven strategy, and a focus on long-term impact, Fejiro’s initiative is setting a new standard for inclusive tech empowerment in Nigeria.
