In a statement released on Monday, Google Cloud said Hana will lead the local go-to-market strategy and operations for both Google Cloud and Google Workspace, reporting to Serene Sia, Country Director for Malaysia and Singapore.
“With her rich vision, experience, industry network, and focus on people and culture, Hana will play an important role in advancing our growth journey in this key market,” said Sia. “We are confident that her leadership will help more local organisations thrive in a digital economy projected to reach US$70 billion by 2030.”
Bringing Deep Industry Experience
A seasoned executive and mother of two, Hana brings over 16 years of experience to her new role. She previously served as Managing Director at Cisco, and also worked at Bain & Company, where she advised top-tier clients across financial services, healthcare, and retail sectors.
Her career has been defined by an ability to align innovation with business strategy, making her a natural fit for Google Cloud’s Malaysia ambitions.
Driving AI and Digital Transformation Initiatives
Under her leadership, Google Cloud Malaysia is expected to play a central role in large-scale national projects, including:
- AI at Work 2.0 with the Ministry of Digital and National AI Office (NAIO)
- Teraju AI Selangor, in partnership with the Selangor State Government
- Gamuda AI Academy, aimed at upskilling the workforce
“We have strong ambitions for further growth in Malaysia,” said Hana. “I look forward to expanding our local team and partner ecosystem to meet rising demand for cloud and AI capabilities.”
Major Investment in Digital Infrastructure
Hana’s appointment comes on the heels of Google Cloud’s announcement of a US$2 billion investment (approximately RM8.93 billion) to build a new Google data centre and cloud region in Malaysia. Construction began in October 2024, underscoring Google’s long-term commitment to the country’s digital transformation.
The company emphasized that its AI-first strategy will continue to shape its offerings, focusing on solving critical business challenges and empowering organizations through cloud innovation.
With Hana at the helm, Google Cloud Malaysia appears poised to deepen its footprint, foster local tech talent, and accelerate digital inclusion across sectors.
