Nollywood actress and filmmaker Eniola Ajao has publicly addressed and vehemently denied allegations linking her to the arrest of popular cross-dresser Idris Okuneye, widely known as Bobrisky. The rumours surfaced following Ajao's movie premiere held last year, where Bobrisky was awarded the "Best Dressed Female" prize, a decision that subsequently drew criticism from some of her colleagues within the film industry.

In a recent video interview on Oyinmomo TV on YouTube, Ajao clarified her stance, stating unequivocally that Bobrisky's arrest was solely due to alleged financial misconduct and had no connection to any personal dispute between them.

Ajao explained that her decision to award Bobrisky the "Best Dressed Female" title was a strategic move to generate publicity and promote her movie. She expressed her disappointment at the negative reactions from some of her colleagues, stating that she had to personally reach out to them to explain her intentions behind the award.

Emphasizing the positive nature of her relationship with Bobrisky, Ajao asserted that she has consistently been a supportive friend to him. She further highlighted her loyalty by mentioning that she stood by Bobrisky during his arrest, a time when many of his other acquaintances allegedly abandoned him.

"I gave the best-dressed female award to Bobrisky to promote my movie, but I didn’t know that my colleagues would react negatively to it. I was very sad to see that my colleagues in the movie industry were fighting over the decision, and I later had to call them and explain what my intention was," Ajao stated in the interview.

She firmly maintained her innocence regarding Bobrisky's legal troubles, saying, "I don’t have any issue with Bobrisky; he knew why he was arrested, and no matter how I try to explain to people on social media, they won’t believe me. I have a very good relationship with Bobrisky, and he knows that I have always been a good friend to him. I wasn’t behind Bobrisky’s arrest; he was arrested because of money, and I always visit him. Many of his friends neglected him when he was arrested, but I stood by him."

It is important to recall that the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) apprehended Bobrisky in 2024 on charges related to currency mutilation and abuse of the Nigerian Naira. Ajao's recent statement aims to dispel any lingering speculation that her actions at her movie premiere played a role in Bobrisky's subsequent legal issues. Her assertion underscores her continued support for Bobrisky during his ongoing challenges.
