Grammy-winning Nigerian superstar Burna Boy has opened up about the release confusion surrounding “Laho”, his recent collaboration with rising street-hop sensation Shallipopi. Taking to Instagram, the Afrofusion giant revealed that the version featuring him — now being released as “Laho 2” — was actually the original track, but its release was delayed due to scheduling conflicts with his other music projects.

“So after all these years y’all still don’t know me enough? If this Laho was the remix then I’d go first lol,” Burna Boy wrote in a lighthearted jab at fans speculating about the order of the releases.

“This was actually the original version. It just couldn’t be cleared for the time he [Shallipopi] wanted to release cuz it clashed with other releases that had to do with me.”

Due to these timing issues, Shallipopi dropped a solo version first, which fans assumed was the original — now clarified to be the remix. Burna Boy’s full version, “Laho 2”, is officially out today, April 25 at 12 a.m., and marks another addition to his string of dynamic collaborations in 2025.

The announcement has sparked excitement among fans, who are eager to hear the chemistry between Burna’s seasoned delivery and Shallipopi’s street-driven style. It also highlights the meticulous planning that often goes on behind the scenes in the music industry — even for megastars like Burna Boy.

With Laho 2 now live, the artist once again asserts his creative control while giving fans the version they didn’t even know they were waiting for.
