Dani Olmo struck just after halftime to give Barcelona a narrow 1-0 win over Mallorca on Tuesday, stretching their lead atop La Liga to seven points over rivals Real Madrid.
Playing at Montjuic Stadium, the Catalan giants dominated proceedings, recording 40 attempts on goal compared to just four by Mallorca, none of which were on target. Olmo's 46th-minute goal ultimately proved the difference as Barcelona closed in on their first league title since 2023.
“We created many scoring opportunities and we should have taken advantage of them, but that’s soccer,” said midfielder Gavi after the match. “We insisted until we finally scored and that’s what’s important.”
It was Barcelona’s third consecutive league win, with just five matches remaining in the title race. Real Madrid, currently second, will look to reduce the gap when they visit Getafe on Wednesday.
Flick Rotates Squad Ahead of Cup Final
Manager Hansi Flick made several changes to the starting lineup ahead of Saturday’s Copa del Rey final against Madrid in Seville. Notably, Ansu Fati made his first league start in nearly six months, while Robert Lewandowski was rested due to a muscle injury.
“We played a great match,” added Gavi. “I’m happy for the players who rotated and got to play.”
Mallorca, meanwhile, remains seventh in the standings, continuing a disappointing run with just two wins from their last nine outings.

Earlier in the evening, Espanyol's three-match winning streak ended with a 1-1 draw at Valencia. The result left both clubs tied on 39 points, with Espanyol holding a game in hand. Valencia sits just behind in 14th place.
