Africa Prudential Plc has announced the appointment of Christabel Onyejekwe as the new Chairperson of its Board of Directors, following the retirement of Chief Eniola Fadayomi, who stepped down after 12 years of distinguished service. The announcement was made at the company’s 12th Annual General Meeting (AGM), held on April 11, 2025, in Lagos.

The leadership transition marks a new chapter for the leading registrar and investor services firm, as it continues to deepen its commitment to governance excellence, innovation, and strategic growth.

Onyejekwe, a well-regarded figure in Nigeria’s financial services sector, brings over three decades of industry experience to her new role. She previously served as Executive Director of Business Development at the Nigerian Inter-Bank Settlement Systems Plc (NIBSS), where she led transformative initiatives that enhanced the nation's financial infrastructure. Her board-level experience spans governance, strategy, and risk management across multiple institutions.

In her farewell remarks, outgoing Chairperson Chief Fadayomi reflected on her tenure with pride and expressed confidence in her successor. “It has been a privilege to serve this great institution, witnessing its transformation into the formidable registrar business it is today,” she said. “I am confident that Mrs. Onyejekwe will bring renewed energy and perspective to the Board, and I have no doubt that Africa Prudential will continue to thrive under her leadership.”

Responding to her appointment, Onyejekwe expressed gratitude and outlined her commitment to building on the company’s legacy. “I am honoured to take on this role and build on the legacy of excellence established by my predecessors. I look forward to working closely with my colleagues on the board and management to drive the company’s strategic objectives,” she said.

The AGM also marked the retirement of Non-Executive Directors Samuel Nwanze and Peter Elumelu, both of whom concluded 12 years of service on the board. Their contributions were acknowledged as instrumental to the company’s growth and transformation.

As part of its board renewal strategy, Africa Prudential announced the appointment of Vincent Ukoh as a Non-Executive Director, pending regulatory approval from the Securities and Exchange Commission. Ukoh currently serves as the CEO of HH Capital Limited, an investment company with diverse interests across financial services, energy, hospitality, and real estate.

In a statement, Africa Prudential reaffirmed its dedication to robust corporate governance and strategic leadership as it positions itself for sustained long-term performance and shareholder value creation.
