Trent Alexander-Arnold is reportedly close to joining Real Madrid on a free transfer when his Liverpool contract expires at the end of the season. Talks between the 26-year-old defender and the Spanish giants are said to be progressing, with the England international eligible to negotiate with overseas clubs since January.

A product of Liverpool’s academy, Alexander-Arnold has been with the club for over two decades and made his first-team debut in 2016 at the age of 18. He has since won multiple major honors, including the Champions League, Premier League, FA Cup, and Club World Cup. With Liverpool currently 12 points clear at the top of the table under Arne Slot, he could add another league title before departing.

Alexander-Arnold is one of three key Liverpool players whose contracts expire this summer, alongside Mohamed Salah and Virgil van Dijk, whose futures remain uncertain.

Currently sidelined with an ankle injury, Alexander-Arnold missed Liverpool’s League Cup final defeat to Newcastle earlier this month. Liverpool have yet to comment on the reports regarding his potential move.
