FirstBank has strongly refuted allegations of fraud as reported by ThisDay Newspaper, Arise Television, and a widely circulated video concerning a legal case filed by a customer, Dr. Agbai Eke, against the bank.

In a statement, the bank declared, “We categorically deny the allegations of fraud attributed to the bank, as they are entirely unfounded and without merit.”

An internal investigation conducted by FirstBank revealed that the issue originated from unprofessional and unethical conduct involving Dr. Eke and a former employee of the bank. The former employee allegedly exploited a personal relationship to carry out unauthorized transactions without the bank’s knowledge or consent.

As the case is currently before the courts, FirstBank is constrained from making further public statements to ensure the judicial process remains impartial and uninterrupted.

"As the matter is currently before the Court, we will refrain from further comments to allow the Court to dispassionately determine the issues before it."

In addition to fully cooperating with the legal proceedings, FirstBank has reported the matter to the relevant law enforcement agencies for a thorough investigation. The individuals involved have been cooperative, providing essential information to support the ongoing inquiries.

FirstBank remains unwavering in its commitment to transparency, accountability, and the protection of its customers' interests. The bank wishes to reassure all stakeholders that it upholds the highest standards of integrity and professionalism in all its operations.

“We assure our stakeholders that we operate with the highest standards of integrity and professionalism.”
