Showmax has unveiled the first trailer for Between Worlds, an exciting new Nigerian Original set to premiere on Thursday, March 6, 2025, with episodes released weekly. This 10-episode fantasy series, inspired by Yoruba mythology, invites viewers into a captivating adventure where the past and present converge.

The narrative centers on Olamide (Awe Abayomi), a con artist who finds himself mysteriously transported to Ilu Aarin, a formidable kingdom in an alternate realm ruled by the troubled king, Oba Ajitoni (Femi Branch). As Olamide navigates this strange world, he becomes embroiled in palace conspiracies and ancient rivalries, all while being guided and challenged by the cosmic enforcer, ‘Esu’ (Soibifaa Dokubo). This esteemed Yoruba deity, recognized as the divine messenger and the link between the spiritual and earthly realms, manifests in various forms, ensuring that every action carries weight. His presence compels Olamide to face his past while maneuvering through the perilous politics of a historic kingdom.

In the contemporary setting, undercover detective Ifetomiwa (Taiwo Ola) is pulled into a case that appears to be intricately linked to the mystical elements influencing Ilu Aarin. As the threads of time intertwine, the pivotal question arises: Is it possible to truly escape one’s destiny?

Between Worlds is created and executive produced by Emmanuel Uduma, known for his work on two Nigerian seasons of MTV Shuga and for directing Showmax’s inaugural Nigerian Original film, School Run. The series is directed by Edward Uka, Tyrone Terrence, and Sola Roberts, with Terrence also serving as the head writer. The cast includes Soibifaa Dokubo, Ropo Ewenla, Ifu Ennada, Olujide Sunday, Emmanuel Degiri, Laolu Loto, Taiwo Ola, and Oreofe Oguntola.

“Between Worlds is a powerful story about fate, redemption, and the choices that shape us. We wanted to bring Yoruba mythology to life in a way that feels real and exciting. Every scene, every character, and every twist in the story is designed to keep viewers hooked,” says Uduma.

Between Worlds follows the success of Kabiyesi, an epic Yoruba series, highlighting the African streamer's strong dedication to showcasing intricately crafted Nigerian narratives that are deeply embedded in culture and heritage.

The series will be available for streaming on Showmax every Thursday starting from 6 March 2025.
