- Adobe has introduced its latest advancement in video production with the public beta launch of its AI-driven Generate Video tool.
- This innovative tool, part of Adobe's Firefly Video Model, enables users to produce videos by utilizing text prompts and images, granting detailed control over various cinematographic aspects.
- Additionally, the Firefly web app has been revamped to improve user experience and effectively highlight Adobe's range of generative AI tools.
At present, the tool can generate five-second videos, making it suitable for rapid content creation. Adobe intends to further develop the tool by adding a 4K model for more sophisticated production tasks.
Initially launched in 2023, the Firefly web app has received a major redesign to function as a central hub for Adobe's generative AI tools. The updated interface simplifies navigation, helping users easily locate the tools they require.
Integration with Creative Cloud applications, such as Photoshop and Premiere Pro, enables users to harness the capabilities of generative AI directly within their preferred Adobe software. Adobe underscores that its Firefly AI models are trained on datasets from the public domain and licensed content, ensuring that the tools are "IP-friendly" and suitable for commercial applications.
To support these new features, Adobe has introduced two subscription plans for Firefly users. The Firefly Standard plan, priced at $9.99 per month, provides 2,000 video and audio credits, allowing for the generation of up to 20 five-second 1080p videos.
Adobe's foray into AI-driven video generation comes as it encounters competition from other AI video solutions such as OpenAI's Sora and Google's Veo. A key advantage for Adobe is that Firefly's content is developed using public domain and licensed materials, which mitigates copyright concerns. The company is focused on enhancing these features with a quicker ideation model and a forthcoming 4K model.
Alongside Generate Video, Adobe has rolled out two additional tools within the Firefly platform: Scene to Image and Translate Audio/Translate Video.
Scene to Image produces high-quality images from 3D sketches and reference shapes, while the Translate tool enables users to convert audio files and video channels into more than 20 languages, maintaining the original speaker's voice. These tools are subscription-based and not available for free.
Organizations such as PepsiCo, Stagwell, and Dentsu are already leveraging Generate Video for various practical applications, demonstrating its real-world utility in the industry.
Through these innovations, Adobe is establishing itself as a frontrunner in the generative AI sector, providing users with a more streamlined workflow and expanded creative opportunities for their projects.
In a related initiative, Adobe has launched the Content Authenticity web app, a complimentary tool that allows creators to embed Content Credentials into their digital works. These credentials serve as a "nutrition label" for digital content, offering secure metadata that enables creators to share information about themselves and their creations.
This effort is designed to safeguard creators' work from unauthorized use and ensure appropriate attribution. The public beta of the web app is set to launch in Q1 2025, with plans for integration into Creative Cloud applications such as Photoshop and Lightroom.
