The University of Lagos (UNILAG) Management concluded the 55th Convocation Ceremonies on Sunday, January 19, 2025, with a Thanksgiving Service held at the Chapel of Christ our Light on the UNILAG Campus.
The Vice-Chancellor, Professor Folasade Ogunsola, OON, FAS, accompanied by her husband, Mr. Olusegun Ogunsola, FCA, led the management team, which included key university officials, to the service that commenced at 10:00 am.
The attendees participated in a vibrant celebration, singing and dancing in gratitude for the successful completion of the 55th Convocation ceremonies, as well as for the enduring peace, stability, and development that UNILAG has experienced over the years.
In her address, the Vice-Chancellor expressed her heartfelt thanks to God for the successful execution of the convocation events. She also acknowledged the support of staff, students, and other stakeholders who stood firmly with the University throughout the ceremonies.
Professor Ogunsola highlighted the significant backing received during the events as a crucial element contributing to their overall success.
Rev. Azuka Ogbolumani, the Chaplain of the Chapel of Christ our Light, offered prayers for the University and its management team, led by Professor Folasade Ogunsola, OON, FAS.
Additionally, he took the opportunity to announce and present awards to selected student members of the church in recognition of their outstanding academic achievements and commitment to serving God.
The church also honored the Chairman of the Convocation Planning Committee, Professor Olufunlayo Bammeke, and the Acting Registrar, Mrs. Olakunle Makinde.
The sermon for the service entitled “Do not Compromise” was presented by Professor Rev. Oluwayemisi Obashoro-John, who emphasized the importance of the congregation recognizing their identity as children of God and adhering to divine principles in all their actions.
The congregation was encouraged to maintain their dedication to the ongoing growth and advancement of UNILAG.
