The Nigerian Economic Summit Group (NESG) has revealed the appointment of three new members to its board of directors: Mr. Wole Adeniyi, Mr. Mohamad Darwish, and Mr. Olusegun Alebiosu. 

These appointments underscore the NESG's commitment to fostering visionary leadership and enhancing collaborations with prominent business figures and private sector partners. The inclusion of these distinguished professionals is anticipated to propel strategic initiatives that will transform and elevate Nigeria's economic environment.

Wole Adeniyi serves as the Chief Executive Officer of Stanbic IBTC Bank Ltd, where he is tasked with steering the institution's strategic direction across its Technology, Digital Transformation, Corporate & Investment Banking, and Retail Banking divisions. Prior to this position, he held the role of Deputy Chief Executive Officer at the bank. Up until July 2020, he was the Executive Director overseeing personal and business banking, which encompassed personal banking, private banking, and the commercial segments, including small and medium enterprises.

Before November 2018, Wole was the Executive Director of Operations, where he managed Operations, Group Real Estate Services, Procurement, and the Business Transformation Program for the bank. His career also includes a tenure as Executive Director of Business Support until November 2011. With nearly three decades of extensive experience in banking, Wole has expertise in technology and digital transformation, both domestic and international banking operations, program management, and retail banking. 

He is recognized for developing and implementing strategies that have significantly improved the operations and technology of Stanbic Bank Nigeria. Wole is a board member of the Nigeria Interbank Settlement System PLC (NIBBS). He earned a first-class degree in Business Administration from the University of Benin and an MBA from the University of Manchester. Additionally, he is a Fellow of the Institute of Chartered Accountants of Nigeria, an Associate of the Chartered Institute of Taxation, and a Certified Information Systems Auditor.

Mohamad Darwish brings over two decades of experience in the telecommunications industry and currently serves as the Chief Executive Officer of IHS Nigeria, where he manages the largest market for IHS Towers. His career encompasses a range of finance and technical roles, including positions as Business Development Director and Deputy CEO prior to his appointment as CEO. In this capacity, Mohamad leads a dedicated team focused on expanding IHS Nigeria’s operations and enhancing its status as the premier tower company in the country. He is responsible for formulating the strategic plan for IHS Nigeria, implementing new sales strategies, and nurturing essential relationships with clients, regulatory bodies, government ministries, and non-governmental organizations.

In addition to his executive responsibilities, Mohamad is an active member of the IHS Finance and Banking, Risk Management, Ethics, and Compliance committees, where he contributes to the development of strategic plans at the group level while ensuring adherence to international standards and best practices. He is passionately involved in initiatives aimed at elevating African nations on the global stage, fostering sustainable economic growth, and encouraging responsible business practices. Mohamad holds a Master of Engineering in Applied Operations Research from Cornell University, an MBA with Honours from Rollins College, and a Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering from the American University of Beirut.

Olusegun Alebiosu was appointed as the Managing Director and Chief Executive Officer of FirstBank of Nigeria Limited in June 2024. In this capacity, he also holds the position of Non-Executive Director at FirstBank UK, enhancing his leadership role within the group’s global operations. With more than 28 years of experience in the Banking and Financial Services sector, Olusegun has showcased remarkable expertise and leadership across various positions. From 2016 to 2024, he was the Executive Director, Chief Risk Officer, and Executive Compliance Officer at FirstBank. His extensive professional background encompasses a range of areas, including credit risk management, financial planning and control, trade, corporate and commercial banking, agricultural financing, oil and gas, transportation (aviation and shipping), and project financing.

An accomplished scholar, Olusegun is a graduate of Harvard Business School, where he completed the Advanced Management Program, as well as the Harvard Kennedy School of Government. He holds a bachelor's degree in Industrial Relations and Personnel Management and a master's degree in International Law and Diplomacy from the University of Lagos. Additionally, he obtained a master's degree in Development Studies from the London School of Economics and Political Science. Outside of his professional endeavors, Olusegun enjoys golfing and exploring new adventures. He is happily married and a proud father, successfully balancing his career with a rewarding personal life.
