This appeal was made during a training session organized by both entities in Lagos.
Mrs. Olubunmi Kuku, the Managing Director of FAAN, emphasized the importance of the training in enhancing aviation correspondents' understanding of the industry's complexities.
Represented by Mrs. Obiageli Orah, the Director of Public Affairs and Consumer Protection, Kuku highlighted that continuous learning is essential, underscoring the necessity of such training initiatives.
She said: “In aviation, the first thing is safety. Second is safety. Third is safety. The training is for us to ensure that we are well-grounded. When I say we, I mean FAAN as a major stakeholder in aviation. We need to ensure that we have the right training to be able to provide services.
“The training is to ensure that we keep our passengers and the wider public informed of all our activities both in the airport, around the airport, both aeronautics and non-aeronautics. It is more or less like public affairs training.
“In public affairs, we are in contact with the populace, so we need to inform them accurately of the things that we are doing. We need to keep them abreast of what we are doing, so that those passing through the airports will know that they are coming into a comfort zone and they are moving through the airports seamlessly.”
Several of the resource individuals at the training included Professor Anthony Kila, an expert in Strategy and Development; Mr. Lekan Otufodunrin, the Executive Director of the Media Career Development Network; and Mr. Pekun Sowole.
