In 2024, United Airlines achieved a record-breaking annual passenger count exceeding 175 million globally. This success reflects the airline's insightful understanding of passenger preferences in areas such as in-flight entertainment and dining. Consequently, United has compiled a report detailing key passenger trends observed during flights.

The airline noted that many travelers were embracing their "Eras" phase, with an average increase of 25 percent in flight demand as fans traveled to attend the year's most significant concert tour.

United was well-equipped to accommodate the surge in demand during the summer concert season in Europe, with routes to cities like Milan and Munich experiencing a 40 percent increase compared to 2023.

Additionally, some passengers were in their "rawdogging" phase, spending an average of 60 minutes engaged with the flight map rather than traditional in-flight entertainment options such as movies or games.

The most-viewed television show on board this year was Bluey, appealing to both adult and child passengers.

Other popular shows included timeless favorites like Friends, The Office, Curb Your Enthusiasm, and The Big Bang Theory.

The ongoing debate between Coca-Cola and Diet Coke remains prevalent, with the top three sodas consumed on flights being Coca-Cola, Diet Coke, and Seagram’s Ginger Ale.

The cinematic rivalry of "Barbenheimer" also reached the skies, with Barbie being the most-watched film this year, closely followed by Oppenheimer.

Other notable films included Anyone But You, The Beekeeper, and Mission: Impossible – Dead Reckoning Part One.

When it comes to beverages, Tito’s Handmade Vodka emerged as the preferred choice for alcoholic drinks, while sparkling wine was the most favored wine selection across all cabin classes.

Savory options outperformed sweet choices in onboard snacks, with the complimentary Summer Harvest Savory Snack Mix and the available Tapas Snackbox and Pringles being the most favored selections.

Contrary to the belief that Millennials primarily book flights via their computers, United discovered that about one-third of this demographic actually reserves their flights through United.com, while another third utilizes the United app for bookings.

In total, over eight million customers made reservations through the United App this year, reflecting a 15 percent increase from the previous year.

With United's newly announced summer destinations for 2025, including Greenland, Mongolia, and Senegal, travelers can look forward to some remarkable adventures ahead.
