CD Projekt Red, Poland's premier video game developer, released a promotional video on Friday for the next installment in its lauded "Witcher" fantasy series.

Following the complexities surrounding the launch of its previous flagship title, "Cyberpunk 2077," CD Projekt Red is exercising prudence in withholding a release date for "The Witcher 4," which is presently under active development.

This single-player role-playing game serves as a continuation of "The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt," further developing the medieval fantasy universe that has sold over 75 million copies since the original game's debut in 2007.

Analysts predict a release in 2026 or 2027, which means CD Projekt may lack a significant revenue source until then.

The company's stock, which initially rose nearly 6%, fell by 4.4% at 0924 GMT.

"Some investors were quite hopeful about this teaser, but it was a topic the market had been anticipating for nearly six months," noted Krzysztof Tkocz, an analyst at BDM brokerage, adding that the stock price in the coming days will likely depend on the trailer's reception.

CD Projekt stated that "The Witcher IV" is designed to be the most immersive and ambitious open-world game in the series to date.

The storyline will center on Ciri, Geralt of Rivia's adopted daughter and protagonist of previous Witcher installments.

The game's development utilizes a customized Unreal Engine 5, the same technology behind the six-minute trailer.

Erste Group analyst Piotr Bogusz noted the trailer accurately represents the game's anticipated quality.

High interest and overwhelmingly positive feedback have been observed for the trailer.
