Mitwa Ng’ambi, currently the CEO of MTN Cameroon, will transition to the role of CEO at MTN Côte d’Ivoire, effective 1 March 2025, following the early retirement of Djibril Ouattara. We extend our gratitude to Djibril for his valuable contributions to MTN, particularly his leadership at MTN Congo-Brazzaville. To facilitate a smooth transition, Djibril will assist Mitwa during her initial months in the new position.
Mitwa brings over 15 years of experience in the telecommunications sector and has demonstrated transformational leadership as CEO of MTN Cameroon since September 2022. She also serves as the Board Chairperson of Mobile Money Corporation, MTN’s fintech subsidiary in Cameroon.
Before her tenure in Cameroon, Mitwa was the CEO of MTN Rwanda, where she successfully renewed the company’s license and led its growth and listing on the Rwanda Stock Exchange. Her previous leadership roles include positions at Airtel Tigo in Ghana and Tigo in Senegal. Mitwa’s extensive experience and proven track record will significantly contribute to the growth and revitalization of MTN Côte d’Ivoire.
Wanda Matandela, who currently serves as the Chief Commercial Operations Officer at MTN South Africa, has been appointed as the new CEO of MTN Cameroon, effective 1 March 2025. Wanda joined MTN in 2018 as Chief Enterprise Business Officer, where he successfully drove the turnaround of that division. With over 20 years of experience, including more than 13 years in the telecommunications industry, he has held key strategic roles in the FMCG and financial services sectors.
Wanda is also a board member of Supersonic (Pty) Ltd and MTN Rwanda PLC. His robust commercial acumen and stakeholder management skills will be crucial as he builds upon the impactful initiatives established under Mitwa’s leadership, introducing new capabilities and insights to foster growth in Cameroon.
