Google Cloud announced on Wednesday its collaboration with Air France-KLM to implement generative artificial intelligence (AI) technology utilizing the airline group's extensive data resources.

In a statement, Google Cloud highlighted that the Franco-Dutch airline group, which operates 551 aircraft and served 93 million passengers in 2023, generates significant data from its commercial and cargo flights. This data will be leveraged by Google Cloud's AI solutions to analyze passenger preferences and travel behaviors, as well as to forecast aircraft maintenance needs.

Air France-KLM will maintain complete ownership and control over its data, according to Google Cloud.

The partnership aims to provide the airline group with enhanced insights into passenger preferences, travel patterns, and behaviors, enabling the development of customized travel options and services. Additionally, it will improve flight, airport, and business operations, significantly reducing the time required for predictive maintenance data analysis from hours to mere minutes, as stated by Google Cloud.

"Airlines produce vast amounts of data, much of which can be extremely valuable for generating operational insights and enhancing customer experiences," remarked Matt Renner, President of Global Revenue at Google Cloud.
