The University of Abuja's Governing Council has approved the interim appointment of Mrs. Islamiya Abdulraheem as the institution's acting registrar until a permanent registrar is chosen.

This decision was made during the council's 71st Extraordinary meeting, which took place on November 5, 2024.

Prior to this role, Islamiya was a deputy registrar overseeing the Vice Chancellor’s Office and also served as Deputy Registrar for Establishment, bringing a wealth of administrative experience to her new position.

A statement issued on Wednesday by Dr. Habib Yakoob, Acting Director of Information and University Relations at the University of Abuja, indicated that her appointment will commence on November 12, 2024.

She will succeed Malam Yahaya Mohammed, whose five-year term as registrar concludes on November 12.

Earlier this year, the Senate of the University of Abuja (UniAbuja) appointed Prof. Aisha Sani Maikudi as the Acting Vice Chancellor. This decision is in effect until the inauguration of the University’s Governing Council, which will be responsible for selecting a permanent Vice Chancellor.
