During the third day of the 76th convocation and Founder’s Day celebration, six exceptional individuals were recognized for achieving a Cumulative Grade Point Average (CGPA) exceeding 7.00. As a reward for their outstanding academic performance at the Master’s level, these individuals will be advancing to their PhD studies with full scholarships provided by the University of Ibadan.
Among the recipients are Ayomide Adepoju Esther and Abiodun Oyeleye, among others.
During his address at the third convocation ceremonies, the Vice Chancellor, Professor Kayode Adebowale, emphasized that the University of Ibadan, through its postgraduate college, has consistently fostered excellence in postgraduate education and research, producing top-tier professionals in Nigeria, West Africa, and across the African continent.
To further this commendable goal, he noted that “our postgraduate college has organized numerous interdisciplinary discussions featuring distinguished figures from both academia and the business sector, both locally and internationally, to share their insights on the overarching theme of education and national development.”
He also highlighted that the postgraduate college continues to play a pivotal role in transforming research and postgraduate institutions.
Reflecting on the institution's achievements and sustainable development over the past year, he remarked, “some of our staff and students have excelled both nationally and internationally through their significant contributions to knowledge.”
In congratulating the graduates, he stated, “your success is a reflection of your determination and commitment. Having obtained a postgraduate degree in this era, you are now charged with the responsibility of contributing to the revitalization of our nation’s economy and society with the knowledge and skills you have acquired.”
He encouraged them to embrace creativity, innovation, and courage as they tackle the challenges that await, stating, "Always represent this university well, regardless of where your journey leads you."
"It is my sincere hope that you will go on and make a positive impact in the various sectors of Nigeria’s economy for growth and development,” the VC said.
