Santos, the club where Pelé made his mark, is back in Brazil's top soccer league and is looking to bring Neymar into the fold.

Santos has confirmed its return to Brazil's top soccer division for the upcoming year, with hopes that star striker Neymar will rejoin the club, which gained international fame alongside Pelé.

After experiencing relegation in 2023 for the first time in its history, nearly a year following the passing of the legendary Pelé, Santos secured its position in Serie A with a 2-0 victory over Coritiba on Monday night. Wendel scored the first goal in the 20th minute, followed by Romulo Otero, who added a second in the 41st minute.

Leading Serie B, Santos has accumulated 68 points over 36 matches, ensuring one of the four promotion spots.

Santos president Marcelo Teixeira stated early Tuesday that he will await Neymar's decision regarding his future with Al-Hilal, the Saudi Arabian club he is contracted with until June.

In 2011, a young Neymar propelled Santos to their first Copa Libertadores title in 48 years before departing for Barcelona in 2013.

“We are clear and straightforward; his father and team are aware of this,” Teixeira informed reporters at Vila Belmiro Stadium in Santos, near São Paulo. “They know me and they know Santos. We must wait since he has an active contract.”

Teixeira also mentioned that Neymar would be welcomed at the stadium on Sunday when Santos faces CRB, with a victory securing the Serie B title for the club.

“The box is always available for him. If he is in Brazil, he will be welcomed,” Teixeira added.

While recovering from an ACL injury, Neymar has frequently shared images and videos of himself watching Santos matches and interacting with players. Al-Hilal announced on November 6 that Neymar is once again sidelined due to a muscular injury.
