This accolade is part of the FIRS Compliant Taxpayer Award and Recognition Programme, which aims to celebrate companies that reliably fulfill their tax responsibilities, thereby supporting the advancement of Nigeria’s economy.
Sophia Horsfall, the General Manager of External Relations at NLNG, shared this news in a statement issued yesterday.
The statement noted that this award represents a significant milestone for NLNG, following its recognition as the FIRS Most Supportive Taxpayer in 2021. That previous award acknowledged NLNG's role in helping the FIRS exceed its tax collection goals through its exemplary compliance.
In its statement, the FIRS praised NLNG for its steadfast and outstanding adherence to tax regulations, underscoring the Company’s contributions to national progress. The service acknowledged NLNG’s dedication to meeting its tax obligations and its impact on the overall economic development of the nation.
The award was presented to Titi Horsfall, Head of Editorial and Digital Content, who accepted it on behalf of the Company.
In a recent announcement, Dr. Philip Mshebila, Managing Director and Chief Executive Officer of NLNG, highlighted that the recognition aligns with a significant milestone for the company, celebrating its 35th anniversary of incorporation and the 25th anniversary of successful LNG production in Nigeria. He emphasized that this award underscores NLNG’s enduring dedication to fostering Nigeria’s development, especially within the energy sector.
"We are privileged to receive this esteemed recognition from the Federal Inland Revenue Service. It is a reflection of the commitment demonstrated by our Board, management, and staff, who diligently strive to maintain NLNG as a responsible corporate entity. This accolade further strengthens our pledge to support the sustainable development of Nigeria’s economy."
Dr. Mshebila also stressed that NLNG’s adherence to compliance is a fundamental aspect of the Company’s mission to emerge as a global leader in energy, advancing not only Nigeria’s energy sector but also enhancing lives through responsible business practices.
