The President of the Nigeria Football Federation (NFF), Alhaji Ibrahim Musa Gusau, has urged Edo Queens to secure the CAF Women’s Champions League title. Following the team's impressive victory over Mamelodi Sundowns from South Africa on Saturday night, Gusau expressed his sentiments in a press release on Sunday..

“The players demonstrated the renowned Nigerian spirit by overcoming a deficit to defeat the reigning champions. Their performance is a testament to resilience, determination, and ambition. I am confident that this victory has inspired them and that they possess the ability to go all the way and claim the title,” Gusau remarked.

He further praised the team for their remarkable tenacity in defeating the defending champions, which has propelled them into the semi-finals of the ongoing CAF Women’s Champions League in Morocco. He expressed optimism that they could emerge victorious in the tournament.

“We extend our congratulations to the Edo State Government and everyone involved in the team’s impressive journey,” he added.

Edo Queens, who clinched the Nigerian title for the first time last season, triumphed in the WAFU B Women’s Champions League competition in Côte d’Ivoire, a qualifying event for the continental championship, and have now advanced to the semi-finals of the CAF Women’s Champions League.

As a result, Edo Queens will face TP Mazembe of DR Congo in the first semi-final on Tuesday at 4:00 PM Morocco time, followed by AS FAR of Morocco taking on Masar of Egypt in the second semi-final three hours later.
