In response to recent speculations regarding intentional payment delays, NECO elucidates that the temporary hindrance in the payment process was solely attributed to incorrect bank details furnished by certain examiners.
In a statement issued on Wednesday by the Acting Director of Information and Public Relations, Azeez Sani, NECO indicated that payments commenced on October 4, 2024, following a systematic bank-by-bank schedule designed to facilitate reconciliation and prevent complications.
“NECO has finalized the payment of examiners’ allowances as of today, Wednesday, November 13, 2024, in line with the council’s payment strategy,” the statement noted.
The council also pointed out that the payment issues stemmed from incorrect bank details submitted by a few examiners, which have now been rectified. All 24 banks involved in the payment process have been cleared.
NECO characterized the circulating rumors on social media regarding the intentional non-payment of examiners as “inaccurate and unfounded.”
The statement advised that any personnel employed by the council should directly seek clarification from NECO regarding any concerns before resorting to the media.
NECO reassured its examiners and ad-hoc staff, emphasizing the significance of their contributions and confirming that timely payment will always be a priority..
