Mohamed Salah has cast uncertainty on his future with Liverpool, indicating that he has not yet received an offer for a contract extension, which is set to expire at the conclusion of the current season.

Following his two-goal performance in Liverpool's 3-2 victory over Southampton on Sunday, Salah hinted that his departure from the Premier League leaders seems more probable than remaining with the club.

“Well, we are almost in December and I haven’t received any offers yet to stay in the club,” he told reporters. “I’m probably more out than in. You know I have been in the club for many years. There is no club like this. But in the end it is not in my hands.”

Salah's contributions helped Liverpool increase their lead at the top of the league table to eight points. The 32-year-old forward has been with the club since 2017 and has netted 12 goals in 18 matches this season.

In a rare interview with English print media before boarding the team bus after the match against Southampton, Salah expressed his disappointment regarding the stagnation in discussions about his contract.

“I’m not going to retire soon so I’m just playing, focusing on the season and I’m trying to win the Premier League and hopefully the Champions League as well. I’m disappointed but we will see,” he said.

“I’m very professional. Everybody can see my work ethic. I’m just trying to enjoy my football and I will play at the top level as long as possible. I’m just doing my best because this is who I am and I try to give it all for myself and for the club. We will see what happens next.”

Salah has been frequently associated with a transfer to Saudi Arabia, particularly since the affluent nation initiated efforts to attract some of the world's most prominent football talents to its premier league.

As Liverpool's all-time leading scorer in the Premier League, Salah has netted 167 goals. Across all competitions, he has achieved a total of 223 goals in 367 matches.

He has secured a complete array of trophies with the Merseyside club, including both the league title and the Champions League.
