Osimhen began a loan spell at Galatasaray in early September and has made nine appearances for the Turkish club during the 2024-25 season, netting eight goals and providing four assists.
Currently, the 25-year-old is expected to return to Napoli next summer, with rumors suggesting that an early termination of his loan in January are unfounded.
After failing to secure a permanent transfer over the summer, Osimhen was sidelined from the Napoli squad, with Chelsea and Paris Saint-Germain reportedly showing the most interest among European clubs. Although there were offers from Saudi Arabia, the Nigerian international opted to stay in Europe.
Chelsea and Arsenal remain interested in Osimhen, but Manchester United is also in contention, potentially using Zirkzee as leverage in negotiations with Napoli.
Journalist Gerardo Fasano, speaking to Area Napoli, noted that new Manchester United head coach Ruben Amorim is keen on acquiring Osimhen, who is under contract with Napoli until the summer of 2026.
Fasano stated, "Manchester United is said to be pursuing Victor Osimhen. I have been informed that the English club, through Mr. Amorim, may include former Bologna striker Zirkzee in the discussions for Osimhen. Zirkzee could assist [Romelu] Lukaku in finding his form. A combination of cash and Zirkzee for Osimhen is being considered. Amorim has realized that Sporting Lisbon might demand too much for [Viktor] Gyokeres and is exploring options for Osimhen.
While Zirkzee may not be the ideal fit for the coach, he could complement Lukaku next season, forming a significant partnership. However, Juventus is also showing interest in Zirkzee and has the advantage of Thiago Motta, a coach who has greatly enhanced his development."
Manchester United must acquire a new striker next summer, as their senior forwards, Zirkzee and Rasmus Hojlund, have only scored three goals collectively this season. Zirkzee has not found the net since the opening match of the 2024-25 Premier League season, while Hojlund has managed just one goal in the league so far.
Sporting Lisbon's Gyokeres is reportedly their primary target, and the Swedish international has recently commented on a potential move to Old Trafford.
However, Victor Osimhen is also being considered as a viable option. The Nigerian forward boasts an impressive record of 76 goals and 18 assists in 133 appearances for Napoli and has made a strong impression early in his career at Galatasaray.
Zirkzee has yet to demonstrate the potential for a long-term future at Manchester United, and if Napoli expresses interest in the Dutch player, it could result in a beneficial arrangement for both clubs.
