Presently, SAP Labs India boasts a workforce of 15,000 esteemed individuals, solidifying its position as the company's preeminent engineering hub globally and the second-largest entity in terms of headcount. Notably, India is recognized as one of SAP's paramount markets in terms of revenue generation and has consistently demonstrated remarkable growth, as astutely observed by Mr. Klein..
"We will hire disproportionately in India compared to our other labs," Klein stated during a visit to Bengaluru, where he was accompanied by the company's executive and supervisory boards.
He mentioned that a significant portion of future investments in research and development (R&D) and customer success will be directed towards India, although he did not provide specific figures or timelines for hiring.
SAP is also in the process of establishing a second office in Bengaluru, which will accommodate an additional 15,000 employees.
Klein highlighted that the primary team responsible for SAP's artificial intelligence (AI) strategy is based in India, with many leaders managing development teams from the country.
In response to concerns about potential job losses due to generative AI (GenAI), Klein assured that SAP will continue to hire as long as the business remains on a growth trajectory. "With a business growing at 30% annually, there will be a need for more developers—not just proportionally, but absolutely, as we expand," he stated.
