Nigerian music icons, namely D’banj, Olamide, Yemi Alade, and Timi Dakolo, are poised to grace the stage at the inaugural ceremony of the African Military Games (AMGA) today at 15:00 hours.

This momentous occasion will transpire at the MKO Abiola National Stadium, situated in Abuja.

Scheduled to take place from November 18 to 30, 2024, the games will witness the participation of over 3,000 athletes representing 48 African nations, who will engage in 19 captivating sports disciplines.

The African Military Games aim to foster unity among Africa’s military forces through sports, emphasizing collaboration, strength, and sportsmanship.

Participants will engage in a wide array of sports, including athletics, football, boxing, swimming, volleyball, and more.

This year's edition is expected to be a lively and memorable occasion, highlighting the remarkable skills and athleticism of Africa’s military competitors.

The opening ceremony promises to be a dynamic affair, featuring military parades, musical and cultural displays, and the ceremonial lighting of the AMGA torch.

The games will culminate in a grand closing ceremony on November 30, which will include award presentations, performances, and a final tribute to the athletes' commitment and achievements.
