Veteran rapper Michael Ugochukwu Stephens, known as Ruggedman, has defended afrobeats artist Davido against criticism regarding his remarks on the Nigerian economy.

Recent reports indicate that Davido faced backlash after advising American citizens to reconsider relocating to Africa, particularly Nigeria, due to the country's economic challenges, which he described as being in "shambles" during a podcast interview.

In response, Ruggedman affirmed that Davido's statement was accurate and called on the government to address the economic issues to prevent similar comments in the future.

He emphasized that attacking Davido does not contribute to solving the country's problems, highlighting the severe hardships faced by many.

On his X account, the rapper stated, “Ok Davido has said what he said, moving forward the government should fix Nigeria so nobody will say such again. All this barking all over the place is not fixing the nation.

The hardship is too much.”
