Unity Bank Plc recently organized a capacity-building workshop aimed at supporting the Association of Nigerian Women in Business Network (ANWBN). This initiative is designed to empower women entrepreneurs with essential skills needed to succeed in the contemporary digital economy.

The workshop was inspired by the rapid advancements in technology and their implications for business, encapsulated in the theme: “Empowering Women Entrepreneurs: AI and Digital Marketing Strategies.” The focus was on equipping participants with practical insights on leveraging emerging technologies effectively.

The event attracted a diverse range of businesses, providing attendees with valuable tools to utilize digital platforms for enhancing market reach, improving operational efficiency, engaging customers, and boosting brand visibility.

Prominent industry leaders, including Dr. Opeyemi Ojesina, CEO of Jesshill Consulting, Nkechinyere Ojiego, General Manager of Simba Group, and Mrs. Adenike Abimbola, Divisional Head of Retail and SME Banking at Unity Bank Plc, conducted impactful sessions aimed at helping participants grow their businesses through innovative technologies and customer-focused marketing strategies.

In a media briefing following the event, Mrs. Adenike Abimbola emphasized that the capacity-building initiative was motivated by the necessity to empower women entrepreneurs to seize the opportunities arising from the evolving digital marketing environment.

She remarked, “The expanding digital landscape offers a significant opportunity for women to elevate their businesses.

Over 70% of women entrepreneurs in Nigeria are eager for such capacity-building programs to enhance their operations, enabling them to transition from traditional business practices to technology-driven approaches, which will serve as a key differentiator.”

Mrs. Ambimbola praised the collaboration with ANWBN and highlighted the significance of digital technologies, reaffirming Unity Bank’s dedication to supporting SMEs. She noted that the Bank will prioritize female-led enterprises to enhance relationships and foster collaboration with women-owned businesses in Nigeria.

One participant, Mrs. Yetunde Adeniran, a fashion designer, shared her insights from the workshop, explaining that the knowledge she gained has enabled her to incorporate digital technology into various aspects of her business.

She also emphasized the benefits of Unity Bank’s Yanga Account, describing it as an essential resource for small business owners, offering financial support tailored to their unique requirements.

In 2022, Unity Bank introduced the Yanga Account to promote financial inclusion for women. The success of the workshop highlights Unity Bank’s ongoing commitment to empowering female entrepreneurs in Nigeria by providing access to vital resources, financial tools, and educational opportunities that will enable them to succeed in a competitive market.
