Nigerian forward Victor Boniface capitalized on a rebound to secure Bayer Leverkusen's victory over AC Milan in the Champions League at the BayArena on Tuesday night.

Boniface found the net in the 51st minute after Milan's goalkeeper, Mike Maignan, blocked an attempt from Jeremie Frimpong. Grimaldo contributed to the goal's creation with a back-heel pass to Frimpong.

Earlier in the match, Boniface had a goal disallowed in the 21st minute due to an offside call against Frimpong by the Video Assistant Referee. Tammy Abraham's request for a penalty was also dismissed as the referee allowed play to continue.

Reijnders made a remarkable effort on goal, but Leverkusen's goalkeeper Hradecky executed an excellent save to maintain his team's advantage.

Leverkusen has now won both of its matches in the tournament, having previously triumphed 4-0 against Feyenoord.

In contrast, Paulo Fonseca's Milan suffered a 3-1 defeat to Liverpool two weeks prior at the San Siro.
