Meta Platforms announced on Tuesday its plans to increase investment in artificial intelligence innovation in Vietnam, which will include the production of its latest mixed reality headsets starting in 2025. This initiative marks a significant step in enhancing its presence in the region.

The announcement was made during a visit by Meta's president for global affairs, Nick Clegg, who had recently met with Vietnamese President To Lam in New York.

"Starting in 2025, Meta will initiate the manufacturing of its newest Mixed Reality device, the Quest 3S, in Vietnam," Clegg stated.

Meta has not provided details to Reuters regarding the scale of the investment or its current operations in Vietnam, nor has it specified whether manufacturing will be conducted through suppliers.

With tens of millions of users on its Facebook platform, Vietnam remains a key market for Meta.

"Vietnam is a vital country for Meta, as millions of small businesses and consumers depend on our platforms," Clegg added.

Additionally, Meta announced plans to begin testing Meta AI in Vietnamese soon, following the initiation of its Business AI for Messenger testing in the country in June, with a full rollout expected by the end of the year.
