Anita Otubu is a qualified lawyer and certified project manager with extensive professional experience in the electric power, oil, gas, and climate change sectors. She currently leads the project management unit for the Nigeria Electrification Project (NEP), which focuses on enhancing the private market for mini grids and captive power plants, as well as deploying solar home systems to serve unserved and underserved households, businesses, educational institutions, and healthcare facilities.

Anita played a key role in the management team of the Rural Electrification Agency (REA), which successfully secured loan facilities of $350 million from the World Bank and $200 million from the African Development Bank to support the implementation of the NEP.

In addition, she serves as the programme manager for Phase I of the Energising Education Programme (EEP), where her contributions facilitated the development and one year of operation and maintenance for seven captive solar hybrid power plants, with capacities ranging from 1MW to 8MW, located in federal universities throughout Nigeria.

Anita is also a member of the advisory board for the Universal Energy Facility (UEF) under Sustainable Energy for All (SE4ALL). This initiative provides grant subsidies to the private sector for mini grid development, aiming to address energy access challenges in Sierra Leone, Madagascar, and the Republic of Benin.

SE4ALL is an independent organization hosted by UNOPS, dedicated to advancing the energy transition in emerging and developing nations. Their efforts focus on the intersection of energy, climate, and development, collaborating with governments and partners globally to eradicate energy poverty, promote renewable energy solutions, and tackle climate change.

Their aspiration is to create a world where every individual, regardless of location, can enjoy a life of dignity on a thriving planet, supported by sustainable energy sources. They advocate for this goal by striving for elevated ambitions, robust policies, enhanced financial flows, increased local engagement, and the creation of green jobs.

Anita is part of the Knowledge Network at the United Nations Office of the Special Adviser on Africa (UN-OSAA), where she focuses on promoting sustainable development across the continent. She serves as a non-executive board member for Chanja Datti Ltd., a recycling company, and co-leads the Abuja Netball team known as ‘NetBellas.’

Previously, Anita was a member of the Advisory Power Team (APT) in the Vice President of Nigeria's office, worked as a legal technical assistant to the Minister of Power, and has provided her expertise to various organizations, including the National Assembly, Transmission Company of Nigeria, British Petroleum (West Africa), Nigerian National Petroleum Corporation (NNPC), Federal Ministry of Environment, Federal Ministry of Works and Housing, and the Kaduna State Government, among others.
