The Confederation of African Football has confirmed that the second leg of the Africa Cup of Nations Morocco 2025 qualifying match between the Super Eagles and Libya, originally set for Tuesday, will not occur.

This decision comes after the Nigerian team opted to boycott the match, citing what they termed as inhumane treatment experienced in Libya.

A brief statement from CAF on Tuesday indicated, “The TotalEnergies CAF Africa Cup of Nations Morocco 2025 qualifier fixture between Libya and Nigeria will not take place as scheduled tonight. The matter will be referred to the competent CAF bodies.”

In light of the ongoing controversy, CAF announced on Monday that it had initiated an investigation following allegations of sabotage made by the Libya Football Federation, which also threatened legal action against Nigeria.

In a statement released on Monday evening, the Libya Football Federation condemned Nigeria's withdrawal from the match, accusing the Nigerian Football Federation of not cooperating in the match's organization.

The Super Eagles expressed safety concerns after being stranded at Al Abraq Airport for more than 13 hours on Sunday.
