Airbus plans to enhance its procurement of components from India, recognizing the significant opportunities available, as stated by CEO Guillaume Faury. The European aerospace giant, which has secured substantial aircraft orders from IndiGo and Air India, has increased its sourcing from India to 1 billion euros, doubling its investment during the 2019-2024 timeframe.

The company collaborates with over 100 suppliers in India.

During a press conference in the national capital on Monday, Faury, who also serves as the Chairman of the French Aerospace Industries Association (GIFAS), emphasized the abundant opportunities present in India.

"We will continue to expand our sourcing of components... We aim to double our efforts approximately every five years, maintaining this steady pace over the next decade," he remarked.

In 2023, for the first time, the volume of equipment designated for aircraft and helicopters surpassed that of IT services, he noted.

GIFAS member companies collectively procure around USD 2 billion annually from India.

Additionally, Airbus currently has an order backlog of approximately 8,600 aircraft and anticipates producing about 770 planes this year.

IndiGo and Air India have collectively ordered over 1,000 aircraft from Airbus.

Regarding the Indian market, Faury highlighted that it is the fastest-growing civil aviation sector globally, characterized by intense competition among airlines.

A high-level delegation from GIFAS, comprising more than 60 companies and over 100 representatives, is visiting India to explore and enhance partnerships and business opportunities between the two nations.
