The protest is scheduled for September 30, 2024, and will be held at the entrance of the Lagos State House of Assembly.
In a statement issued a week following the one-year anniversary of Mohbad’s untimely passing, Fabiyi voiced his profound frustration regarding what he perceives as attempts to obscure the case and suppress vital evidence.
He alleged that those implicated in the singer's death are investing substantial sums of money to manipulate the investigation and divert attention.
“It is imperative that we mount legitimate pressure and protest peacefully at the gate of the Lagos State House of Assembly on the 30th of September, 2024,” Fabiyi declared, urging the public to join the movement.
He urged representatives from Lagos State to take action by forming a committee to look into the circumstances of Mohbad’s death.
Fabiyi pointed out the purported availability of CCTV footage both inside and outside the singer’s home, indicating that this footage might have been saved remotely.
He expressed disappointment with the authorities for failing to access this data, emphasizing the need for transparency in the investigation.
“We are so sure the CCTV cameras inside and outside Mohbad’s house were working, and they store remotely… why the police did not wish to retrieve it can be very frustrating,” Fabiyi said. He also drew attention to the construction workers and security personnel of the estate where Mohbad resided, emphasizing that they might possess significant information pertinent to the matter at hand.
A peaceful demonstration is being arranged with the hashtags #JusticeForMohbad and #BreakTheSilence, where Fabiyi is encouraging participants to don black shirts and white armbands.
“COME ONE, COME ALL, AND LET US SPEAK IN ONE VOICE,” Fabiyi added.
