Grammy-winning Nigerian artist Ayodeji Balogun, widely recognized as Wizkid, shared his experience of recording all his successful tracks while seated.
In a widely circulated video, Wizkid expressed that he does
not exert himself to create hit songs.
The artist behind the popular track "Holla At Your
Boy" also mentioned his aversion to promoting his music or participating
in media interviews.
“All my biggest songs from ‘Holla At Your Boy’ to ‘Soco’,
‘Joro’, ‘Ojuelegba’, I recorded them sitting down,” he said.
“You [P2J] know how my things be for Lagos. You’ve been in
my house. You know what I do. I’m chilling. You get me, no stress.
“You see promo, I hate doing that sh*t. You know press, I
hate doing all that sh*t, bro. I know exactly what the people want. [Producer]
P2J is the only n*gga that understands me.
‘All we have to do is turn on the mic. The amazing thing is
that the world is now globalised, you don’t need anyone to lie to you.”
Wizkid was born on July 16, 1990, in Surulere, where he was
raised in a polygamous family with a Muslim father and a Christian mother. In
December, he unveiled his latest musical endeavor, the “Soundman Vol. 2” EP.
This four-track project features dynamic collaborations with
prominent artists such as Wande Coal and Zlatan Ibile.
It is worth mentioning that ‘Soundman Vol. 1’ was released
in December 2019.
The launch of this new project follows Wizkid's recent
announcement about potentially taking a five-year break from the music
industry.
The Afrobeats sensation expressed his intention to step away
for four or five years, contemplating a shift towards football or golf.
He conveyed this in a casual manner, stating, “Back in 4
years, make una papa chop him money small or maybe five or I fit still go dey
play ball now.”
