Cristiano Ronaldo is currently suffering from a virus and did not accompany Al-Nassr to Iraq for their AFC Champions League Elite debut match against Al-Shorta on Monday.

Al-Nassr, the Saudi Arabian club that Ronaldo represents, announced that the Portuguese forward “wasn’t feeling well” and has been “diagnosed with a viral infection,” with the team’s physician advising that he requires rest.

Recently, while playing for Portugal in the Nations League, Ronaldo scored against both Croatia and Scotland, bringing his record of international goals to 132, the highest for any male player.

Although Ronaldo has secured five UEFA Champions League titles, he has yet to achieve a significant trophy with Al-Nassr.

This marks the inaugural edition of the Elite tournament, which has taken the place of the AFC Champions League as Asia’s premier club competition.

Ronaldo's first appearance in the Elite tournament may now take place against Qatari club Al-Rayyan on September 20 in Riyadh.
