In an extraordinary display of appreciation, afrobeats artist Divine Ikubor, popularly known as Rema, made a generous donation of N105 million to a Christ Embassy church in Benin, Edo State, on Sunday.

This contribution took place during a Sunday service, where Rema expressed his gratitude to the church for its unwavering support and guidance.

In a widely shared video, he stated, “I’m not here to seek accolades or recognition.

My purpose is to give glory to God. It is essential to give back, as the church has embraced me, prayed for me, and helped maintain my spiritual consistency.

“To begin with, I am pledging N40 million for the church's infrastructure. Additionally, I will contribute N20 million to Rhapsody of Realities, and since I have roots in the teens church, I am also committing N25 million for its infrastructure.

Furthermore, I am dedicating N20 million to support widows within the church today.”

Rema also shared how the church played a crucial role in supporting his family during a challenging period following his father's death.

He recalled, “At the age of eight, after losing my father, we felt lost and abandoned. Everything we had was taken from us, and we felt isolated.

I remember Pastor Joy and Pastor Thomas, the church's pastors, who opened a shop for my mother, which helped sustain us.”

Rema returned to his hometown in Benin on Tuesday in anticipation of his much-awaited homecoming concert.

Music producer Collins Michael, known as Don Jazzy, along with the Mavin crew, also arrived in Benin to support Rema's concert.

Additionally, Rema was honored by the Oba of Benin at his palace, where he received a royal plaque prior to the concert.
