Renowned Nigerian DJ, DJ Neptune, has expressed his views on the lifestyle decisions of certain Nigerian artists, particularly those who neglect to prepare for their future during their peak years in the music industry.

He highlighted the significance of financial prudence and the risks associated with lavish spending without consideration for the future. Neptune shared these insights as a guest on the Zero Conditions Podcast.

“Artists often believe that fame is everlasting; that’s why many of them, while enjoying their success, fail to save or invest their earnings.

I was recently with someone who remarked that these artists who receive advance payments often spend it on luxury cars.

Isn’t that jeopardizing your future?” The DJ, who has collaborated with notable artists like Burna Boy and Rema, reflected on this observation, describing it as a profound reality check for many in the field.

He underscored that fame is typically temporary, and without adequate financial planning, many may encounter difficulties when their popularity diminishes.

“That’s why I advise my peers to invest their money while they are at the top.

Whether it’s in real estate or other ventures, having a secondary income is essential,” he recommended.

Neptune also pointed out that only a select few artists possess the longevity to maintain their careers for over a decade, making future planning even more vital.

“Very few of us are fortunate enough to remain relevant for more than five or ten years.

You cater to a specific demographic, and if you fail to adapt and evolve, you risk losing your way,” he concluded.
