In a series of posts on his X (formerly Twitter) account, Pheelz highlighted that music fulfills more profound spiritual roles beyond the pursuit of quick wealth.
The acclaimed creator of ‘Finesse’ articulated that music goes beyond material benefits, characterizing it as a sacred force that fosters healing and establishes a deep connection with the human spirit.
“Music is not a grind. It is not a get-rich-quick scheme. It is not a hustle. Music is life. Music is feeling. Music is healing. Music is God,” he wrote.
In a separate discussion, Pheelz highlighted the difference between music as an art form and the commercial industry that encompasses it.
He emphasized that although the music industry seeks to profit from artistic expression, the essence of music transcends mere commodification.
“The music and the music business are two different frequencies to me. The Music Business is man’s attempt to commodify God’s energy. The Music itself is God,” he added.
In 2021, Afrobeats made a significant impact on the American mainstream, largely due to the success of Wizkid’s hit single “Essence” and Ckay’s “Love Nwantiti.” By 2022, a new wave of Afrobeats artists began to emerge in the spotlight: Fireboy DML’s popular track “Peru,” featuring Ed Sheeran, gained traction on the Hot 100, while Omah Lay’s collaboration with Justin Bieber on “Attention” showed promise as a potential hit.
Additionally, producer-turned-artist Pheelz entered the scene after signing with Warner Records. What started as a simple “training session” with his new producer using Ableton Live—a music production software—turned into a transformative experience for Pheelz. After he shared a clip from his studio on TikTok, the track gained immense popularity, catching the attention of Warner Records, who quickly arranged a meeting with him.
His song "Finesse," a collaboration with Bnxn (previously known as Buju), became a significant success in 2022. Pheelz is recognized for producing nearly all the tracks on Olamide's album, Baddest Guy Ever Liveth, with the exception of one. He has collaborated with a variety of artists, including Davido, Usher, Olamide, Wizkid, Fireboy DML, Teni, and Tiwa Savage.
