Renowned Nigerian actress Kate Henshaw has shared a video on Twitter (now X) of herself and a colleague engaging in a joyful dance at the gym.

Her post, captioned “Energy never lies… No matter what, never lose your joy… Hold fast to it.. E get why.. Have a truly lovely day my authentic X family,” was met with support from her fans.

Nevertheless, one observation from user Oluwabukola was particularly noteworthy, garnering the attention of both Henshaw and her adherents.

The comment, “Flat yansh. Aunty Kate, this your to match gym outfits ehnnn. Give me some now,” was interpreted as an indirect compliment and elicited a series of responses.

Supporters of Henshaw swiftly came to her defense, criticizing the remark as being disrespectful.

One individual following the account said, “What a stupid, backhanded comment to post. Real women lift each other up, not pass backhanded compliments. For the record, a backhanded compliment is a comment that blurs the line between insult and compliment. Apologise to Kate and moving forward, think before you post.”

In response, Henshaw acknowledged the criticism, stating, “She knew what she did… I don’t need her apology… Thanks Elyzabeth.”

In response to the individual’s remark, she provided further clarification, “Leave am abeg, make she carry her yansh dey go front mbok.”

Henshaw’s followers voiced their opinions in response to a comment made by Oluwabukola, which was later removed.
