The Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board (JAMB) has denied allegations from certain HND graduates claiming that it is to blame for their exclusion from the National Youth Service Corps program.

JAMB clarified that it does not have jurisdiction over HND admissions, as its responsibilities are limited to undergraduate admissions and National Diploma courses.

In a statement released on Monday, spokesperson Fabian Benjamin referenced Section 5(2) of the Board's founding legislation, which clearly indicates that JAMB is not accountable for examinations or selection processes related to postgraduate programs or other tertiary education offerings.

JAMB further noted that some students were admitted to National Diploma programs without its awareness, and the Board merely condoned and endorsed those admissions.

"Many of these students were reportedly admitted to their institutions for the National Diploma without the Board's knowledge.

Consequently, the Board graciously condoned and endorsed these admissions for the ND program, which constitutes its only involvement with these candidates.

Their later admission to HND programs is outside the Board's purview and irrelevant to its mandate.

Therefore, it is unreasonable to hold the Board accountable for matters beyond its jurisdiction.

Some of these candidates have crossed legal boundaries, which the Board will address appropriately in due course," the statement concluded.
