The Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board (JAMB) has reported that 21 candidates with fraudulent IJMB results were put forward for 2023 admissions by various educational institutions.

According to a policy document acquired by our correspondent in Abuja, 12 of these candidates were recommended by Ahmadu Bello University, Zaria. JAMB revealed that these 21 candidates, who presented counterfeit IJMB results, were not granted approval for admission.

Notably, 12 recommendations came from ABU, Zaria, highlighting a concerning trend.

The recommendations occurred because certificate verification was conducted post-registration, involving five institutions in total.

JAMB emphasizes that all certificates must bear the signature of the institution's head (Vice-Chancellor, Provost, or Rector).

In 2021, JAMB launched the Nigerian Post-Secondary Education Data System verification platform to authenticate IJMB and JUPEB results.

This initiative followed a thorough investigation by the Independent Corrupt Practices and Other Related Offences Commission, in collaboration with the Federal Ministry of Education, addressing irregularities and result falsification, as noted in a recent ICPC statement.

JAMB, in a bulletin, underscored the necessity of taking decisive action to curb these unacceptable practices, asserting that these proactive measures, along with additional initiatives in development, aim to protect the advancements made in the education sector, particularly in examinations, from being undermined by dishonest individuals.
